Join the Optical Engineering team at Hardware Test Engineering group to develop customized metrology and instruments for calibrating, characterizing, and testing displays and cameras of Apple products. Are you a color science expert? Come join this dynamic team that designs systems that touches every next generation product that Apple mass produces! You will be responsible for developing color calibration methodology and algorithms for new products. Perform color analysis and simulation to validate performance of the instrument during its development cycle from prototyping, lab validation, to deployment at factory, enabling state-of-the-art technology for new Apple products.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in color & imaging field
  • Expertise in color science, including color measurement, analysis and perceptual interpretation
  • Experience with display/camera characterization & calibration algorithms
  • Hands-on knowledge on optical instruments (e.g. colorimeter, spectrometer, monochrometer, standard illuminants, etc.)
  • Exposure to optical concepts and optical design
  • Knowledge on camera technology, HW, and ISP
  • Knowledge on display technology and image/video pipeline
  • Experience with Design of Experiment and large quantity data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong debugging and problem solving ability
  • Proficiency in Matlab and familiarity with Python

Description

Develop color calibration methodology and algorithms for optical measurement instruments according to product characteristics and quality requirements Define and document calibration requirements and measurement procedures Conduct accuracy analysis using tolerance stack and Monte Carlo methods Work with other optical engineers and vendors to implement, validate, and qualify the calibration methodology Perform system level analysis and simulation of both the measurement instruments and Apple products (display/camera) Analyze measurement data and discuss results throughout the development cycle Evaluate various light source / spectrum for factory calibration and audit

Education & Experience

BS/MS/PhD in a relevant field (Color/Imaging Science, EE, CS, Optical Engineering, Physics)

Additional Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in Matlab/C/C++/C#/Python is a plus
