We are Apple Maps, and we're looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team. We drive the development, delivery and the execution of the Maps UI on iOS, CarPlay, macOS and watchOS. With hundreds of millions of devices in our user’s hands, our team enables new experiences and features for millions of delighted users around the Globe!

Key Qualifications

  • Experience developing and maintaining automated tests and scripts.
  • Proficient with JavaScript and Python.
  • Experience with UNIX command line utilities, tools and scripting (e.g. bash, zsh, etc).
  • Experience running automated scripts in a lab environment
  • Experience with distributed source code control systems like Git or Mercurial.
  • Ability to decompose complex business problems and guide and coordinate many hardworking and creative people towards positive solutions.
  • Aptitude to independently learn new technologies & bring that passion to the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – you'll be working multi-functionally across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Strengths in SQA methodologies, feature coverage analysis & commitment to quality


As part of Apple Maps and the Client QA team, you will help us extend our Maps UI automation coverage in order to increase quality efficiencies across all features and supported platforms. This includes navigation, search, and many other core areas that is directly visible on our product on all of our iOS, CarPlay, macOS and watchOS devices. In addition to supporting your lead Test Engineers, you will also have an opportunity to build key relationships with our Development counterparts as we are an embedded test organization. This position requires a highly-motivated individual with strong programming fundamentals as you will be primarily using JavaScript and occasionally Python to automate test cases. You will implement solutions that covers functional testing for various use-cases that may span into other external areas outside of Maps. As a result, you will also have the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with other groups throughout our Apple ecosystem. In addition to building tests, you will also be responsible for maintaining automation regressions and failures. To be successful on our team, you should possess the ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex matters into clean, understandable solutions which deliver clearly detailed test plans. You will also be an effective diplomat with strong communication and organizational skills. To succeed here, you'll need above all to be passionate about shipping a map experience that is the best of its kind.

Education & Experience
