Our team designs trust and safety into our products from the early design stage, stretching the design focus from computer-human interaction to human-human interaction. We are seeking a Trust & Safety Specialist to apply our core principles of trust and safety to new products across the company. You will partner with design teams, engineering, and product and project management to construct user scenarios and stories for new products, envision and remediate failure cases, and make recommendations for risk mitigation. Your independent work products are a key part of the overall product design.

Description

Our team assists and advises development teams in designing trust and safety into products for users, content providers, and Apple itself. Aligned with the Security and Privacy teams, the Trust and Safety team identifies products with particular Trust and Safety ramifications. We collaborate with the development team to sketch out positive and negative scenarios for interactions between individuals and in groups. You’ll be expected to create and deliver user stories, written use cases, user journey maps and sequence diagrams, Keynote presentations, video or animation realizations of interaction patterns, and evaluation reports detailing risks and mitigations. For products already shipping, you will monitor product analytics and empirical data to spot failure and abuse, and may be called on for rapid response to developing situations. But you’ll also be educating and enlightening engineers, designers, and product and project managers on the way real people in the world interact with each other. The position involves consideration and discussion of, and occasional exposure to, harmful materials and cases of harmful behavior.

Education & Experience

Advanced degree in sociology, social or cultural anthropology, social psychology, or other focus on interpersonal dynamics. Applied work in electronic communications, online communities, collaboration and groupware, or social networking product development or evaluation
