Prototype Parts Manager / Quality Engineer

The Prototype Parts Manager will be a key member within an aggressive Product Development team at Apple. As a part of the cross-functional team, the individual will drive prototype build quality control, both in-house and at component suppliers.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in quality functions within a manufacturing environment
  • Experiences in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings including GD&T and tolerance analysis
  • Experience with 3D CAD programs to work with native files to compare collected measurement data to nominal condition, Siemens NX preferred
  • Experience with physical and electrical measurement techniques and in designing and conducting Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Experience with CMM programming for component QCs. Zeiss Calypso programming preferred
  • Experience with Apple’s ANPP and/or QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Six-Sigma


Ensure quality control for prototype builds via the establishment and maintenance of product quality plans and control plans Partner closely with the Engineering and Operations teams during all phases of development to enable successful, high quality prototype builds. Establish quality performance metrics and monitor quality, determine root cause of problems, and implement corrective actions and countermeasures Audit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures Drive {D,P}FMEA activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated Work with engineering to understand measurement requirements for inspections, developing correct datum schemes, data collection/analysis and detailed reports Manage in-house metrology lab Identify best measurement strategy, select proper inspection tools, and write inspection plans Create CMM inspection programs using Zeiss Calypso Operate automated CMM to monitor part quality, production process stability and to support root cause investigations Certify new and existing fixtures on production line according to calibration schedule Manage/organize work-in-progress inventory, quality holds and OQC/IQC cross checks

Education & Experience

BS / MS Engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical or similar). Certified Quality Engineer preferred
