As the Team Leader you will manage the development, deployment, and support of battery qualification test tools and provide daily supervision for the engineers and technicians in the team to ensure all aspects of test equipment, process, and procedures are qualified and ready for battery testing at local laboratories. You will utilize your expertise in dimensional metrology and equipment qualification methods to guarantee that highly accurate, repeatable and reproducible test data is generated by the computerized battery test equipment.

Key Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical precision engineering, dimensional contact and non-contact metrology
  • 2+ years of team lead supervisory experience
  • Experience in design of mechanical test apparatus/component/fixture with tight tolerances, test requirements, and electromechanical/automation interfaces
  • Experience with 3D scanning and non-contact profilometry equipment and its measurement configurations and programs
  • Proficient in the development of dimensional measurement methods and qualification techniques such as Gauge R&R, calibration, linearity, bias and measurement uncertainty of test equipment
  • Strong understanding of DOE, GD&T and SPC or CP/CPK techniques
  • Experience with gathering, managing, and analyzing large data sets using statistical analytics software such as JMP or Minitab. Must rely on data to support technical decisions
  • Experience with test platforms such as ATE (automated test equipment) utilizing data acquisition and instrumentation control
  • Experience with mechanical design engineering of any of the following: consumer electronics, small medical devices, automotive/aerospace/industrial components, injection molding, jigs, tooling, fixtures or consumer appliances with tight tolerances
  • Experience with any of the following 3D CAD Tools: Siemens UG, SolidWorks, ProEngineer, etc.
  • Working knowledge with sample handling/attachment methods i.e. adhesives and/or vacuum
  • Experience in electro-mechanical design
  • Familiar with battery technologies and leading edge battery test equipment

Description

•Engage with cross-functional groups and provide technical leadership in selecting testing methods, technologies, and tools for meeting internal customer requirements •Specify and develop metrology tools and/or small sub-assemblies such as test fixtures, sample handling tools, and jigs using 3D modeling to ensure highest test reproducibility •Drive design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions, define measurement system analysis (MSA) criteria to reach equipment and/or method acceptance and perform root-cause analysis to reach corrective/preventative actions •Collaborate with lab management in scheduling the equipment development and qualification efforts for readiness of use by lab personnel •Interface with equipment vendors for the supply of equipment and services, and in resolving quality and reliability issues, utilizing statistical approach •Develop and supervise a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians •Track projects and report status to management •Domestic and global travel expectation: approx. 15%

Education & Experience

MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field
