Apple is looking for a Micro Device Engineer with electronic device design and fabrication experience to join the PPO Thin Film Engineering team.  Micro Device Engineers must have a strong technical background in a relevant technical field, for example, display, optics, semiconductor or MEMS design and fabrication. A successful candidate will work within a cross-functional team to realize new display technologies. This position demands technical strengths in electronic device engineering and materials science, together with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in micro-fabrication design and process
  • Experience in electrical characterization of micro devices
  • Able to understand and perform statistical data analysis
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Optional Desired Skillsets (any one of the following):
  • Experience in the design, development and integration of opto-electronic or display technology
  • Laker, Virtuoso or equivalent layout skills
  • Experience in materials characterization; SEM, EDX, AFM, XPS, etc
  • Understanding of high volume manufacturing processes
  • Experience with vendors on process execution and validation


Within the Process Team, conduct engineering investigation for new concepts and advanced technology for device design and layout for next generation display technology. Work with EE, optics, and manufacturing teams to realize new concepts and execute experiments to develop state-of-the art process technology. Optimize and improve existing device design, thin film processes and materials for better performance, reliability and cost reduction.

Education & Experience

Ph.D. or MS in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related field
