We are the Thermal Design team, and we are looking for an Engineering Technician who will be responsible for assisting with thermal testing, characterization, and prototyping activities as related to the development of Apple’s products. Key Qualifications

  • Experience testing computer hardware and/or mobile devices
  • Proficiency in basic thermal measurement methodologies, e.g. thermocouple placement, obtaining readings using automated data acquisition
  • Strong testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills
  • Strong drive and passion to provide accurate data with attention to detail, and ability to execute sometimes very-repetitive manual test procedures
  • Proficient in using Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote
  • Experience with Terminal and a Unix command line environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Self-motivated and self-started with excellent time management skills and entrepreneurial spirit and working within multifunctional teams, must be a great teammate
  • Strong individual contributor with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Basic machine shop experience and use of hand tools (Dremel tools, hand drills, files, metal sheer, etc.)


As a Thermal Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for: - Characterizing thermal architecture and validating thermal performance -Building model, disassembling, modifying and reassembling systems -Working with cross-functional team to execute software-hardware test plans and procedures -Creating test reports and summaries -Development and implementation of thermal test methods based on feedback from the design team. - Thermal lab management including: organization lab space and equipment

Education & Experience

BS/BA or AS/AA and 3+ years related experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Familiarity with basic thermal engineering principles like conduction, convection, and radiation, a plus
  • Understanding thermal and airflow testing is helpful
  • Some coding/scripting experience (Unix Shell or Perl), and software troubleshooting and debugging skills, and Labview Experience, a plus
  • Ability to debug and analyze basic electrical circuit and familiar with DMM, Power sources (AC and DC), oscilloscope, etc., a plus
  • Knowledge of Apple Mac OSX and iOS is a plus
