Apple is looking for a Laser Integration Engineer to actively participate in the design, optimization and testing of integrated optical sources. This person will be responsible for the development of new photonics structures, from the design, through fabrication, characterization, and the data analysis. This person will also play an important role helping to integrate the learnings, and designing the next generation photonics structures.

Key Qualifications

  • Solid background on optoelectronic devices, in particular, semiconductor lasers
  • Experience with III-V fabrication, optical cavity design and fabrication
  • Good understanding of integrated photonics
  • Good Programming skills, e.g. Python, Matlab


- Responsible for the design and implementation of the novel fabrication methods for photonics integrated circuits - Experience constructing and validating models of lasers and optical cavities - Validation of the models based on experimental data - Testing of opto-electronic devices - Participate in the data analysis and necessary statistical analysis for performance assessment - Scientific reporting of the full process

Education & Experience

Masters in EE/Physics with optics background (3+ years of experience) or PhD in Optics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering
