Developer Tools Integration Engineer

The Apple Developer Tools department is looking for a problem solver with build tools related engineering experience and excellent interpersonal skills. As part of this great team, you'll work on a variety of interesting projects and contribute to the development of the tools that millions of people use every day to build applications for Apple products like iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. You will work on integrating changes for Xcode and improving our internal software builds.
- Proficiency with scripting languages, for example, Python or Bash
- Ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Always iterating and seeking new ways to automate repetitive tasks
- A working knowledge of UNIX
- Previous experience with application development in C, C++, Objective-C or Swift is helpful, and considered good transferable skills.
As a Developer Tools Integration Engineer, you will be working on the releases of the Xcode IDE, with a varied range of responsibilities. Your efforts will help to improve the developer experience within the department and across Apple. You'll be most successful here as a proactive engineer who thrives in a supportive, respectful, and balanced work environment with interesting and challenging problems to tackle. You have excellent judgement and integrity with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. The role's responsibilities include: • Maintaining and monitoring our CI system and filing actionable bugs when there are issues • Creating and maintaining internal tools that help engineering teams to be more productive • Working closely with our Project Managers on Xcode release planning • Collaborating with our engineering teams debugging and solving difficult issues with Xcode • Creating release branches in a multitude of Git repositories for a large number of simultaneous releases • Collaborating closely with teammates, for example on code reviews • Cross-functional communication with other teams You will be part of a small team working across time zones in both California and Tokyo.
