Weekly Hours: 40
Role Number:200196806
Imagine what you could do here! At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Do you bring passion and dedication to your job? If so, we're looking for individuals like you. Work and contribute toward the engineering of Apple's state-of-the-art products involving video, audio, and graphics in the Interactive Media Group (IMG). IMG is one of Apple's Software Engineering division and provides the media and graphics foundation across Apple's innovative products, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac, HomePod, and CarPlay. In this position you will create the automation infrastructure required to ensure high uptime across our labs. Success in this role means automating as much of the setup and maintenance processes as possible. We're looking for candidates that will automate these processes rather than do them twice. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team and have a large impact across multiple Apple platforms and products.

Key Qualifications

  • Expertise in scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • Extensive knowledge of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, the OSI Model, networking and load balancing
  • Experience in lab setup, management and improvement
  • Meticulous organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

As an Automation Engineer you will act as point-of-contact for our test labs, with a focus on both expanding and maintaining our labs. You will lead initiatives like creating the automation infrastructure for our labs; standardizing our labs’ hardware, software and network configurations; and developing and utilizing tooling to manage lab inventory. You will analyze and effectively communicate lab related issues, and resolve these where possible. Additionally you will be responsible for defining and implementing instrumentation to manage and monitor lab hosts, restricting access to the hosts according to Apple security requirements, and restricting the software being run. You'll work with a small, hardworking and motivated team that operates like a startup within Apple. The ideal candidate will be innovative, organized, a self-starter with excellent communication skills, and have a keen attention to detail.
