Within this organization, the mission of the Data Platform Services team is to develop scalable, performant, and quality enterprise data services, for the ultimate goal of measuring and improving Siri. We're looking for an experienced hands-on engineering manager to lead a team of talented and creative backend engineers.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience leading and growing the team, with the ability to influence
  • 5+ years of industry experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable and reliable web services for mission-critical systems
  • Proven ability to deliver solutions that are maintainable, understandable and diagnosable
  • Shown ability to excel in a dynamic development team
  • Proven creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills and experience working on large cross-functional projects
  • Practical experience in Java or Python with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Expert experience with RDBMS and NoSQL technologies
  • System monitoring experience with tools like Grafana
  • Infrastructure knowledge of networks, CDNs, load balancers
  • You have an aptitude to independently network, learn, and influence multi-functional teams
  • Ability to learn and research new technologies rapidly


The Sir Data Platform Services team is responsible for building scalable, performant and quality enterprise backend services, to enable easy exploration and consumption of Siri data (billions of events generated daily from devices and our services), to facilitate Instrumentation development; equally important the team also builds the backend services to power the Siri human-annotation platform. As the manager of the team, You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute on the backend services roadmap, to ensure the services are meeting the needs and iterate as well as innovate based on observations and requirements gathering. You will influence architecture and infrastructure decisions while mentoring and growing a high-performance software engineering team. You are a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual that combines deep technical knowledge with tight-knit collaboration and excellent communication skills. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: - Manage our Data Platform Services team, coach them, advocate for them, unblock them, make them happy and productive human beings - Grow, educate, hire, and retain a high-performing team with a high delivery cadence in an agile environment - Continue to grow your technical skills to be an effective leader - Provide technical leadership to the engineers and be accountable for the engineering output of the team - Work closely with Product, Analytics, and other cross-functional partners to create a meaningful vision and roadmap, and iterate towards a successful outcome - Build a culture of engineering excellence with a focus on performance, scalability, privacy, and security

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
