Hardware Test Engineering Group has an immediate opening for a Technical Program Manager. In this role as a key technical contributor, you will lead, coordinate and cross-functionally represent, the definition and execution of manufacturing tests in Apple's future consumer product lines and set the benchmark for the quality associated with Apple products. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment, have strong understanding of software fundamentals, solid background working with systems, excellent communication skills, and a desire to work with cross- functional teams to develop ground- breaking products. Your contributions will make a pronounced difference to future Apple products.
Key Qualifications
- Engineering experience: 2-5 years
- Program Management experience with strong communication skills: 3-5 years
- Strong background in computer architecture, bus technologies (such as I2C, SPI) and IO protocols (such as PCIe, USB)
- Strong knowledge of embedded hardware and EE fundamentals is highly desired
- Prior experience with embedded software development is highly desired
- Understands and thrives in a fast paced environment
- Ability to drive issues, track tasks, and evaluate priorities on a daily basis
- Manufacturing experience and prior exposure to working with contract Manufacturers is highly desired
- Mac OS X and/or iOS experience, scripting experience is a plus
Description
In this role you will be working with the cross functional team to architect and coordinate definition of a test suite targeted for hardware qualification by way of deep diving into the hardware architecture and analyzing metrics reported by these tests.
The responsibilities span all aspects of product bring-up and test:
• Scoping the development and dependencies of
drivers, applications, protocols, frameworks, and
command line utilities for validation of hardware internally and in manufacturing
• Coordinating and managing diagnostic bring up of new SoCs, chipsets, sensors, and products
• Interacting with Electrical Engineers, Hardware, OS, Test, Operations and various other cross-functional teams within Apple to drive hardware qualification goals and test definition to execute that qualification
• Enabling test strategies for new components in upcoming products
• Data analysis from hardware builds to enable feedback to test definition and hardware design and manufacturing quality
• Leading data driven efforts to identify hardware coverage gaps and redundancies and presenting finding to the executive management team as needed
• Supporting new product development builds locally in Cupertino and at vendor locations
• Providing coordination and leadership around debugging issues seen in the test suite
• Drive issues, track tasks, manage resources, evaluate priorities on a regular basis
• Driving and enabling process improvements
• Work with our engineering team to define, schedule, track, and communicate the status of software features and deliverables to other groups and executive management.
• Communicate status to the executive management on a regular basis
• Travel to prototype hardware manufacturing builds
Education & Experience
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent required: 3-5 years industry experience
