The AppleCare Service Quality Engineering team is seeking a motivated Hardware Quality engineer to support the Mass Storage and Memory commodities from product release (NPI) through End of Life (EOL). This role covers all aspects of technical support including production support, screening/repair process definition, diagnostics, failure analysis, monitoring of quality metrics and driving improvement activities. The successful candidate is self-motivated, thrives in a fast-paced environment, performs well under pressure, is an inventive problem solver, and has the ability to effectively prioritize time and projects. Travel: Typically 15% up to 25%.
- Five+ years of demonstrated experience in a related technical field.
- Experience in Engineering/Quality auditing of supplier and site locations.
- Expert in HDD, SSD, and DRAM technologies, as well as manufacturing and qualification processes
- Familiar with HDD and SSD test equipment (including script development, qualification, validation, and maintenance)
- Familiarity with supply chain and materials planning processes, site/line qualification
- Experienced in developing technical procedures
- Nice to have: Lean Sigma, ASQ certification, DFM experience.
You will manage service vendors to ensure consistent high quality new build and repair is being performed. Develop test coverage, technical documentation, and processes to ensure timely and effective repair or screening by Apple’s vendors. Ensure supplier compliance meets all technical data reporting requirements to Apple per service level agreements. - Monitor new product introductions to ensure emerging field issues with these commodities are gathered and addressed. Oversee service returns rates to ensure that modules used to repair customer systems meets goal. - Use statistical data analysis techniques to review these datasets, identify key issues, and drive systemic improvements back to Design Engineering, Operations, and to the vendors. - Prepare effective presentations to call out top issues to management to drive change. - Above all, be an advocate for the customer, making sure that their needs are represented across all divisions of the company.
Education & Experience
Four year technical degree or equivalent (EE, ME, or Computer Engineering degrees preferred)
