In the Security Architecture and Engineering Firmware Security team, we're developing new ways to ensure the secure function of the many firmwares which make up modern computing platforms. You’ll join a team of engineers who are dedicated to securing the world’s most advanced consumer devices. Our products are trusted for storing personal data, and our goal is to better safeguard our users. We're looking for talented and inspired individuals to help raise the bar on the security of Apple's products.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience with C programming
  • Experience with at least one constrained runtime environment such as system boot, EFI, firmware, embedded OS, or real-time OS
  • Ready to balance concurrent priorities on tight schedules


Successful candidates for this role enjoy the engineering challenges presented by the constrained environments of system booters, peripheral firmware, and real-time operating systems. You will determine the appropriate compromise between several often competing factors of functionality, performance, and of course security. Here we cultivate product innovation, rapid product iteration, and a liberating amount of autonomy in which you will be encouraged to build and quickly bring to market new security methods and technologies in the firmware and embedded systems spaces. Here are examples of the kinds of projects you will be working on with us: Enhancing the security & functionality of SecureBoot on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs Finding and fixing vulnerabilities in EFI, SecureBoot, and peripheral firmware Building new isolation technologies and vulnerability mitigations for embedded and low-resource environments Work cooperatively with other parts of Apple on cross-functional technologies and initiatives to enhance security

Education & Experience

Bachelors of Science in STEM field or equivalent experience

Additional Requirements

  • Systems and kernel programming skills
  • An understanding of firmware and operating systems internals
  • iOS and macOS exposure (end user, administrator and/or developer)
