The Interactive Media Group (IMG) provides the audio, video, and graphics foundation across all of Apple's innovative products, including iPhone, iPod, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch, iTunes, and macOS, as well as professional and consumer applications from Final Cut, Logic and iWork. The Audio QA group provides audio software test support across all of Apple’s products. We are seeking a creative and organized triage engineer to join our screening and triage team as we field audio bugs from engineering, developers, and customers—truly, the whole world. In this role, you will interact with an extensive breadth of audio issues spanning across all of our hardware and software products, including accessories. Critical yet thoughtful thinking is your strong suit—you are able to identify and appreciate nuances between products and features related to audio.
- 3-5+ years of experience in general test engineering.
- Strong problem solving and debugging skills along with a diligent mentality.
- Exemplary written communication skills, and diligent, yet confident personal communication skills.
- Familiarity with real-time audio handling (sample rates, buffering, PCM, drivers, etc.).
- A foundational understanding of electronics, audio technology, and recording studios.
This is a high visibility job that involves a deep understanding of what everyone on the team is working on. You will combine a love of Apple software and Audio with a strong dedication to product quality and reliability. Excellent communication and teamwork are a requirement, as you will be asked to work closely with team members and other engineering teams. Areas of Responsibilities • Screen and triage incoming bugs (understand, reproduce and regress) for our components. • Identifying repetitive manual routines and converting them into automated tools for the team to use. • Identify potential trends in incoming bugs and call out to multi-functional team members. • Work directly with engineering and cross-functional, audio-adjacent screening and triage teams in order to solve complex problems
Education & Experience
B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Music Technology, or equivalent experience
- ML and/or CoreAudio API experience is a plus
