The Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team is looking for a hardworking and self-motivated senior software engineer to support Apple’s Retail and Environmental initiatives. The BTS team sits within the Worldwide Retail Fulfillment Operations organization, and we are responsible for fostering, delivering and maintaining technology-enabled business solutions that have material top-line and bottom-line impact. BTS participates in all elements of the product development life cycle, thus is fundamental to the launch of revenue generating programs, implementation of cost efficiencies, support of balanced strategies and establishment of scalable technologies. • We collaborate daily with a multitude of internal Apple teams and external partners globally • We design forward-looking solutions, geared towards flexibility, extensibility and scalability • We execute on these custom end-to-end solutions as a team of software engineers and solution designers • We support each other, ensuring no team member is left behind, with investment in peers being a core value

Key Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of the Ruby on Rails framework and Ruby as a core language (6 years minimum)
  • Expert knowledge of API design and interface technologies (JSON, ProtoBuf, REST, RPC, XML, etc)
  • Proven understanding of basic frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, JQuery, etc)
  • Proven understanding of coordinated testing frameworks (RSpec, MiniTest, etc)
  • Solid understanding of GoLang, or a similar compiled, high-concurrency, lower-level language (Erlang, C++, C, Rust, Java)
  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment with multiple releases a day
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excel in multi-functional collaboration, communication and relationship building

Description

We’re seeking a senior software engineer responsible for the development and design of web applications and components. Design, code, test, and implement web sites and applications, for either internal or external uses. Fix and resolve issues surrounding performance, response times, capacity and system limitations. Responsible for crafting and modifying documentation corresponding to websites. May collaborate with internal business partners, internal technology resources (database, system, networking) and external vendors. Maintain and update websites and ensure data quality, integrity and consistency across organization. Requires both front-end (GUI) and back-end development experience.

Education & Experience

•Prefer professional experience over education. •Minimum 3 years in a lead / senior engineer role •4-year degree or technical training program (bootcamp, etc) is a nice to have

Additional Requirements

  • •Solid understanding of Continuous Integration suites (CircleCI, Jenkins, etc)
  • •Exposure to AWS and DevOps is a huge plus
