The Display and Color Technologies organization in Apple's Interactive Media Group is at the core of designing and implementing solutions for rendering visual media on displays. Examples of technologies include rendering high dynamic range video and games, media composition, ambient adaptation, and pro color features such as display presets. Our organization is also responsible for optimizing the subjective and objective color quality of media renditions, and working with key partners to adopt new media and display features. We are looking for candidates with strong engineering and mathematical intuition who are excited to tackle new problems, working with a team from product conception to shipping production quality color and display features.

Key Qualifications

  • Software development expertise in C, C++ or an equivalent language
  • Scripting expertise in Matlab, Python or an equivalent language
  • Comfort with describing problems using mathematics
  • Interest in media, color and display technologies
  • Interest in building algorithms & prototypes, and constructing visually compelling demos
  • Interest in building tools & methodologies to characterize media and display color quality


The Color Management Software Engineer role includes 4 functions. Your work will include at least one among these functions - - Developing production software that renders visual media and performs display color management - Developing algorithms and architectures for media-to-display color management - Developing tools and methodologies to characterize display color quality, and automate such analysis - Working with product and technology partners to prototype, demo and ship new color features on Apple products In this role, you will work with GPU, Metal ecosystem, Gaming, Pro Color Tools, Media and Display teams at Apple.

Education & Experience

BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science OR Electrical Engineering OR Equivalent Degree OR Equivalent Experience
