From portrait mode and active image stabilization to FaceID and center stage, our team plays a key part in enabling best-in-class camera user experience. We are responsible for the design, development, and validation of next-generation camera and depth systems across all related Apple products. In this role, you will brainstorm, design, develop and characterize test equipment used to calibrate and validate Apple’s groundbreaking cameras and depth sensors. Your design and engineering support work will range from lab scale systems — to high volume in-line mass production equipment. Our team works collaboratively with a creative and diverse group of expert engineers from all fields including testing, core technology, product design and operations teams developing state of the art test and measurement systems for Apple camera and depth hardware.

  • Understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) principles and drafting standards
  • Conduct detailed tolerance analysis
  • Good fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principals
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or UG NX.
  • Experience with prototyping solutions, optical production-level testing fixtures and thermal management.
  • Project and product management experience is desired
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support development builds
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience


In this role you will provide support to the camera test engineering teams with the design and bring up of testing equipment throughout the entire product design lifecycle. You will become responsible to mechanical performance end to end — from design and approval, to data collection and buy off. With great diversity of the problem space, you will rely on your engineering background to architect the efficient solution for the problem at hand, leaning on the fundamentals of materials science, structural and thermal analysis, machinery design, automation and manufacturing processes. Project management skills are highly desired as you will be involved in defining product requirements, ensuring compliance to both upstream and downstream stakeholders, driving vendors to meet schedule commitments, and contributing to research and project planning. With your technical expertise, you will lead and manage projects, review supplier tool design, develop test tools and provide recommendation to improve process flow.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or related engineering degree

Additional Requirements

  • 10% to 20% travel to both Apple and suppliers' facilities will be required for testing development and production bring up (usually ~2 weeks travel at a time).
