- Experienced, hard-working engineer with great initiative and a proven track record of developing complex systems from initial definition throughout the project life cycle.
- Software development experience using C with multiple families of microcontroller/microprocessors.
- Experience with scripting languages (i.e. Bash/shell, Python).
- Experience in developing low-level drivers.
- Experience supporting FPGA development and test.
- Experience with hardware system bring-up, validation and test.
- Experience with schematics and electrical test tools, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., git).
- Strong software debugging and system troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with synchronized realtime sensing and processing systems.
- Thorough, disciplined, methodical approach, with good documentation habits.

Apple's Incubation team is seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to breathe life into high performance custom hardware systems that are essential to delivering future products & features to Apple’s Customers. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact Apple’s current and future product lines by delivering firmware and software that enable early-phase exploration and development for computer vision, depth and traditional imaging sensors using embedded systems, Apple’s SOCs, or 3rd party sensing hardware. Let your talents shine while collaborating multi-functionally with world-class experts in electrical, optical, product design, and other software teams. Other responsibilities include: - Firmware requirements definition, architecture, coordinating multi-functional design & development, small- to medium-scale production, test & calibration, and support through the full system lifecycle. - Negotiate requirements with multi-functional partners such as image signal processing, algorithms or application teams - Collaborate with hardware teams on component selection and implementation details - Partner with software, electrical and system leads to define test requirements and plans - Document and present agreed upon firmware architecture to cross-functional partners and leadership - Design and implement firmware for both custom and 3rd party systems including optical, motion and depth sensors - Implement low latency capture from various systems including synchronization of distributed systems - Driver development for sensors and other peripherals on linux, iOS or macOS based system - Coordinate and deliver API’s for automated test interfaces - Coordinate deliverables & dependencies with software partners to align with dynamic project goals - Assist in bring-up, debug, test, calibration, and verification plans to ensure high quality systems are delivered
Education & Experience
MS with 5+ years or BS with 7+ years of industry experience in electrical engineering or related field
