The Cartography team at Apple Maps focuses on defining the display and ensuring an excellent user experience across geographies and cultures. In this highly collaborative role, you learn and develop innovative approaches and solutions to cartographic problems while working along side world class data engineers, software developers, and designers, helping to make the Apple Maps experience intuitive, recognizable, elegant, and delightful for our users. We are looking for a creative Cartographer intern to help us meld the future of Apple Maps. As our team member, you will focus on crafting and implementing engineering solutions that enable the cartographic styling of the map while working in unison with the latest rendering techniques.

Key Qualifications

  • You may meet or have interest in any one of the following qualifications:
  • Ability to work in team-based environment.
  • Self-motivating.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use spatial analysis and GIS software.
  • Knowledge of cartographic principles and methods.
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment.
  • Desired Experience in any of the following:
  • Prior experience in production digital or print cartography.
  • Experience performing intermediate or advanced spatial analysis.
  • Familiarity with vector and raster creative applications such as Illustrator or Sketch.
  • Interest in or experience with multi zoom map design and data curation.

Description

As a member of a multi-functional cartography team at Apple, you will help to create the next generation of Maps experienced by users across the globe. You will conceive, design, and prototype ideas that can change the way Apple Maps is used. You will work closely with many different multi-functional teams including Human Interface Design, Product, Engineering, and Data teams

Education & Experience

Working toward BS, MS or PhD in Cartography, Geography, Spatial Data, Urban planning and architecture, or similar degree.
