***This position can be based in Austin, TX / Seattle, WA / Raleigh, NC!*** We are seeking an upbeat, hard-working and experienced senior hardware electrical engineer to own the hardware development of research prototype boards. In this role you will play a pivotal role in the definition, architecture, and instantiation of hardware reference designs. Key Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in electrical hardware design using Cadence Concept and Allegro development tools.
  • 5+ years experience in integrating ARM-based products and architectures.
  • 3+ years experience with Verilog or VHDL development environments for CPLD and FPGA programming.
  • Design experience in digital logic, simulation, power conversion, and power delivery networks.
  • Experience with high-speed serial interfaces including signal integrity design and measurement fundamentals and optimization at the PCA level as well as among system interconnects (board to board connectors, custom high-speed cable designs).
  • Board bring-up skills including proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Protocol analyzers, and electronic loads.
  • Experience driving in-house PCA development through prototype board manufacturing builds.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline teams in the debug and root cause of sophisticated technical issues at all levels of the system.
  • Experience working with software teams during bring-up and development including low-level kernel debugging tools.
  • Experience collaborating with program management, mechanical and PCB layout engineering teams. This includes [but is not limited to] coordinating with team(s) in remote locations.

Description

This exciting role combines two critical aspects of Hardware Electrical board design. First, this role will be the primary owner responsible for the delivery of all hardware research prototype boards for the IS Advanced Technologies Group. Second, this role will require working with internal multi-functional software, hardware, and silicon teams to bring-up, characterize board power, and validate new digital interfaces and protocols in our concept boards. Collaboration and communication are absolutely foundational requirements for ensuring success in this role.

Education & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering

Additional Requirements

  • - Ability to thrive in a ‘start-up’ environment.
  • - Scripting experience is a plus (i.e. bash, python).
  • - PCIe experience is highly desired. Both electrical and protocol level.
  • - Proven Mentor and Coach in bringing up the next generation of HW designers
