As a part of our Financial Services Compliance group, you will help uphold Apple’s high ethical and corporate standards, as well as enable us to grow our products and services. As a data science engineer, you will work closely with Data Scientists and other Data Science Engineers to lead the design and implementation of systems and tools to support the fair lending program. The ideal candidate works well in collaborative environments with minimal formal structure and is comfortable in changing environments with competing priorities. They must possess solid business acumen, natural curiosity, and the ability to effectively shift between communications styles based on the audience.

Key Qualifications

  • Mastery of one of Python, Java, Scala, C++ or equivalent language and 3+ years of experience in software engineering/data science
  • Experience building data science or data analysis tools on Hadoop/cloud based systems, specifically AWS and Arcadia and ability to evaluate and apply new technologies in a short time
  • Some experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platform deployment and relational databases and NoSQL databases
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience with the implementation of regulators’ requirements on model risk management
  • Strong data analytical and quantitative skills and solid grasp of computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms


- Working with external infrastructure teams to drive the development of infrastructure needs for fair lending analysis and data access - Innovating by recognizing opportunities for automation and tools improvements - Responsible for system architecture design - Execute model validation and maintain model validation standards and procedure documents, engage with partner teams on model risk matters - Perform technical analyses, data analyses, or build challenger models to support the validation review and challenge process - Working cross-functionally with other teams and managing workflow across competing priorities

Education & Experience

BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
