Apple is looking for a highly motivated Hardware Prototyping Engineer to join Panel Process and Optics (PPO) Engineering Team to explore new display and optical module architectures for future Apple products.
The Hardware Prototyping Engineer is expected to work quickly and smartly to help determine the viability of ideas and technologies. The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable working in a dynamic and creative environment, with uncertain requirements and shifting dependencies. Projects will require rapid experimentation and prototyping without sacrificing quality or attention to detail.
We work at a fast pace and require everyone to be highly self-motivated. The ideal person for this role loves to tinker, learn new things and bring new ideas to life. This is a hands-on interdisciplinary development role that will require versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Qualifications
- Experience in technology development projects in R&D environment or similar early-phase stages
- Hands-on experience in designing, building and optimizing fixtures, prototypes and equipment systems
- Demonstrated experience in process development, characterization, and data analysis to enable, improve and realize new design architectures
- Passion for innovation and motivated to constantly learn new areas and skills to expand knowledge and scope
- Proficient in 3D CAD (NX, and /or Solidworks) and manufacturing techniques
- Experience / skills in one of the following fields are highly preferred
- - Intermediate programing and data analysis experience in Matlab / Python, JMP, or similar tools
- - Experience in opto-mechnical system, optical metrology or precision instruments
- - Experience in mechanical and/or optical simulation software (Ansys, Comsol, Zemax)
- Experience in mechatronics, robotics, and control systems
Description
Drive technology incubation projects. Hands-on design, build, test and refine hardware systems to enable critical technology development
Initiate new module technologies to enable next generation display and optical architectures, develop prototype and process for proof-of-concept validation, establish fundamental engineering knowledge, and
deliver core technology package to production teams.
Work flexibly and collaboratively in a fast paced product and technology development lab. Interact with cross-functional teams to align development strategy and effectively plan engineering works
Education & Experience
PhD degree or MS degree with 5+ years of experience working on related field preferred.
