The Special Projects Group at Apple is seeking an accomplished systems engineer to serve as an Senior Autonomy Integrity Engineer. In this role, you will help inform the design of complex hardware and software systems and develop methods and tools to enable their analysis and validation. You will need to think broadly, connecting ideas across multiple technical domains: software design and development, machine learning, data science, control systems, and simulation – to name a few. You will be expected to view problems from multiple perspectives and at different levels of abstraction, and to tackle them from multiple directions. We expect successful candidates to demonstrate an ability to solve such problems efficiently, and to communicate about them effectively with a variety of audiences.
- Experience with analysis or validation of complex robotics systems, preferably in autonomous applications.
- Experience using rigorous scientific methods for trade studies, testing, and problem solving.
- Experience with statistics, data analysis, or modeling.
- Ability to rapid prototype using Python and SQL skills
- History of delivering results through innovation and detailed execution.
- Experience working on unsolved problems and defining technical strategy.
As an Autonomy Integrity Engineer focused on validation, you will ensure that autonomy and V&V technologies meet our high standards for safety and performance. • You will be responsible for ensuring our V&V technologies are accurate, complete, and scalable to achieve system level targets. • You will design experiments, analyze results at scale, and present takeaways validating our technologies or identifying gaps. • You will develop and maintain the processes and tools for system validation, focused on efficient scaling. • You will use the validation findings to define requirements that influence the V&V team’s roadmaps. • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to close the gaps, and drive improvement in our technology stack
Education & Experience
MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics or a related field Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience
