The Audio and Media Technologies Group (AMT) provides the media foundation across all of Apple's innovative products. The CoreMedia engineering team within AMT is responsible for implementing software services around linear audiovisual media. This includes local media playback, video-on-demand and live streaming of multimedia content. Our media engine is used across Apple products such as Safari, TV, Photos, Music, Videos, FaceTime, iMovie on iOS and macOS as well as 3rd party applications. We are looking for a performance engineering manager with an excellent technical and programming background and strong leadership skills.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with software development
  • 2+ years of project or team leadership experience
  • Coding skills in C/C++, ideally on embedded platforms
  • Experience with and understanding of real-time multithreaded programming systems
  • Knowledge of memory and compute performance analysis and characterization

Description

You are a team-oriented professional with excellent interpersonal skills and are comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You will direct a team of hardworking engineers responsible for continually improving CoreMedia services performance by analyzing the system characteristics and optimizing the design and implementation of the authoring, playback, and exporting machinery. You will also be working with other multi-functional teams in an effort to realize higher levels of performance across the overall system. You will have in-depth experience in systems-level programming and experience leading and mentoring a team of resourcefull engineers in a multi-functional environment is also a plus.

Education & Experience

BS/MS in Computer Science or Equivalent

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $174,000 and $301,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
