Apple is seeking a Character R&D Technical Artist who is exceptionally creative and innovative to join a team of industry-leading developers in their pursuit of high quality procedural content. Design and implement character workflows and procedural systems while working closely with a small team in a collaborative nature. Be forward-thinking in a fast paced, start-up environment with a drive to enable a team to scale productively and efficiently. The individual should be able to collaborate with multi-functional teams (research, engineering, technical artists, production, and outsourcing) to develop character rigs and pipelines for Apple’s next generation products.
Key Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy-based character rigging, look development for photo-realistic character development
- Proficiency in 3D graphics applications such as Maya, Houdini or others
- Deep understanding of proceduralism in computer graphics
- Good programming skills in Python and/or C/C++ in a Linux/and or MacOS environment
- Good understanding of modern character animation techniques
- Good understanding in 3D geometry and linear algebra
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Description
Apple makes the newest technologies accessible to create amazing user experiences. You will have the opportunity to work in a multi-functional team to prototype and build procedural character animation systems. You will need a keen understanding and deep experience in aspects of character development and animation - rigging, simulation, and pipelines for offline and real-time environments.
Education & Experience
BS in computer science, computer graphics, BA in Digital Media or equivalent experience
Additional Requirements
- Familiarity with sensor/tracking related technologies
- Exposure or experience in computer vision and/or deep learning is a big bonus
- Experience with real-time rendering engines
