Our team is responsible for key systems and frameworks which empower important features on Apple Maps platforms including iPhone, iPad, CarPlay, WATCH, TV, and Vision Pro We are seeking a passionate and creative software engineer who envisions themselves building solutions which enhance the Maps experience for our users. This role is best-suited for the developer who has a strong understanding of the core components of an object-oriented programming language and wants to leverage that knowledge to build solid framework-level solutions.

Key Qualifications

  • Object-oriented programming knowledge (Java, C, C++, Obj-C, Swift, or Rust for example)
  • Production-level environment experience
  • Use of engineering concepts such as concurrency, threading, resource management, and performance
  • Desire to partner and foster strong relationships with multiple team members and stake-holders across many organizations

Description

As an engineer on our team, your work will contribute to building and maintaining evolving systems and frameworks for Apple Maps. This work will continue to enhance and iterate on the ways our users experience Apple Maps features and functionality. Maps frameworks are supported on multiple platforms (iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS), so understanding and developing shared codebases between different operating systems is a plus. As a member of our team, your daily activities may include: * Partnering with other Apple teams to iterate, innovate, and investigate new ways of exposing navigation-related data to the platform. * Using your knowledge of systems and frameworks to ensure our system is scalable and useable for many different platforms * Working with team members to scope and implement system-level standard methodologies such as memory management, object-oriented design, and production level code. * Demonstrating your current programming knowledge to create and write clean, concise, and accurate code. Our team primarily uses Objective-C.

Education & Experience

BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience will be considered.

Additional Requirements

  • While not necessary, the following skills could be helpful:
  • Knowledge of any of Apple’s ecosystems
  • Past experience building frameworks and/or systems
  • Experience with version-control software (for example: GIT/CVS/Perforce)
