Crash Detection on iPhone is a perfect example of how we define hardware requirements, design experiments, combine signal processing with dynamic models, and leverage machine learning to build breakthrough features that have an enormous impact on people’s lives. The Apple Watch Ultra is another great example of how we work cross-functionally to design new hardware that can provide unparalleled fitness and activity metrics from the highest mountains to the deep sea.


You will work closely with a broad cross-section of Apple hardware and software engineering teams, as well as the design and marketing teams to enhance and develop new features across the Apple ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for rapidly prototyping new ideas, as well as thoroughly investigating those ideas to understand their complications and limitations. You will need to define data collection requirements and build a simulation pipeline to regularly validate algorithm performance. You’ll also be responsible for implementing efficient and maintainable code on Apple devices, so that millions of users around the world will get to experience the features you’ve built.

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in machine learning, time series analysis and signal processing
  • Working knowledge of inertial sensing, system identification, statistical inference
  • Strong MATLAB or python skills and working knowledge in C++ or ObjC programming

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
