Description
The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent curation and headline-writing skills, the ability to communicate complex ideas simply, a genuine interest in local and weather news, and a deep understanding of what makes Los Angeles tick and its diverse communities. For this role we're particularly interested in someone who is familiar with the local Spanish-language media landscape. The work week is Sunday through Thursday.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Select top stories for different cities across the country, with an emphasis on quality, accuracy, and engagement.
Write sharp and engaging copy with the Apple News audience in mind.
Work with our copy and standards team to ensure your work meets all aspects of our house style.
Choose and program relevant stories into the Weather app.
Minimum Qualifications
- Deep newsroom experience, with a keen understanding of the information that matters to readers.
- Strong, nonpartisan editorial judgment and excellent writing skills.
- Ability to make curation decisions independently, and on deadline.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Ease working across teams and incorporating feedback seamlessly into your work.
- Adaptability to new challenges.
- Five years experience working in news.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
