We develop and manage Apple’s global real estate portfolio, lead all related capital construction projects, provide outstanding facilities and site services, develop and lead sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of all Apple facilities, including commute and renewable energy programs, and do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of all Apple personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities around the world!
Apple is seeking an Energy and Sustainability Analyst to manage the performance of Apple’s renewable energy assets, contracts and investments. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the Operations Group within Apple’s Global Energy and Sustainability Team, and help Apple achieve its ambitious sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will possess the technical aptitude required to understand energy project design & development, support energy asset management, analyze large data sets, and report on key performance & environmental metrics. An understanding of greenhouse gas accounting protocols, standards, and reporting frameworks (e.g. Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project) is also desired. This position is full-time and located in Cupertino, CA.
Description
The Energy and Sustainability Analyst will be responsible for tracking and optimizing the performance of Apple’s renewable energy portfolio, as it grows to meet our 2030 carbon neutrality goals.
Oversee the performance of the renewable energy assets and renewable energy purchase contracts in the portfolio of Apple’s Corporate energy program.
Work with asset owners/operators on performance reporting and contract accountability. Optimize the performance of the existing portfolio of assets & contracts.
Track the progress of renewable projects under development and construction and hold developers accountable for contract milestones.
Support energy purchase contract negotiations to ensure long-term supplier accountability & enforceability.
Support the continuous enhancement of Apple’s RE&D centralized carbon inventory system to track, analyze, and report on the company's facilities carbon emissions.
Support the development of Apple’s annual sustainability reports.
Maintain documents and data related to Apple’s renewable energy portfolio.
The role requires strong organizational skills, the management of several tasks at once, and the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
Less than 10% travel, but occasional site visits may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline
- 5+ years of job experience in a related field: renewable energy procurement, renewable energy project design, energy project development, energy asset management, independent power producer (IPP), etc.
- In-depth technical knowledge of renewable energy technologies; primarily wind and solar PV.
- Experience in greenhouse gas accounting protocols, standards, and reporting frameworks.
- Experience compiling, analyzing and presenting energy data.

- Experience in negotiating and/or interpreting energy related contracts.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to navigate, edit, synthesize, update, and organize large datasets.
- Hands-on renewable energy design experience.
- Proficiency in Tableau or similar data visualization software
- Experience transacting in wholesale energy markets.
- Working knowledge of utility retail rate structures and calculating the financial impacts of “behind-the-meter” energy projects.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills and ability to collaborate seamlessly with diverse colleagues in an unstructured environment
