Our mission is to provide an intelligent and rich user experience on Apple devices using spatial awareness and device context. We help you find your keys, locate your AirPods, unlock your Mac, and let you know how long your commute will be. We also help your loved ones know you made it home safely and help protect you against unwanted tracking. We have an opening for a software engineering manager for our small but growing team. Specifically, the team currently focuses on AirTag, Find My features for AirPods/Pencil/Remote, and Bluetooth connectivity, and plays a supporting role in other areas. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, we may be in a position to re-organize some of the responsibilities for the team.

Description

The Proximity and Context team is actively looking for a highly-motivated and experienced software engineering manager to lead our team. Due to the cross-functional nature of our work, the ideal candidate should have strong communication and interpersonal skills to work well with a large variety of people within Apple. The candidate also must be technically strong, have an established track record of managing projects, and have experience shipping software. The candidate needs to show initiative, take ownership of a number of technical areas, and assume responsibility for leading all the related aspects that need to be coordinated to achieve success. The candidate should also be able to make intelligent choices when taking into consideration product-level constraints on system performance, privacy, security, and power. Most importantly, the candidate loves working with people, supporting others, and mentoring and growing engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar area
  • Experience and passion for managing a small team
  • Strong track record of running and shipping SW projects
  • Possess excellent analytical, programming, and debugging skills
  • Have in-depth knowledge of C++, Objective-C, or Swift
