Apple’s Continuous Integration (CI) Platform team is dedicated to equipping our internal engineering community with robust, scalable, and innovative CI/CD solutions. As the CI Platform Manager, you will lead a team of skilled engineers to design, build, and maintain Apple’s next-generation CI infrastructure. Collaborating across teams, you’ll shape the platform’s vision, drive innovation, and ensure the secure, reliable delivery of software at scale.

Description

As the Manager of Apple’s CI Platform team, you’ll steer the evolution of our internal CI infrastructure. You’ll oversee the design and implementation of key features like our Domain-Specific Language, CD Events emission, graph oriented UI, ephemeral system testing, and ARM64 build support. You’ll enable new efficiencies for countless internal Apple engineers by seamlessly integrating quality, security and compliance measures into their software delivery workflows. In this role, you will: - Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of platform engineers, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and excellence driven culture. - Promote modern CI/CD best practices, leveraging Tekton and Kubernetes to deliver a unified platform for software teams. - Drive adoption of event-driven CI/CD workflows using technologies like CDEvents, ensuring seamless integration and scalability. - Manage platform enhancements, including capacity planning, performance optimization, and cost efficiency in a dynamic cloud environment. - Partner with stakeholders to define and prioritize roadmap features, balancing immediate needs with long-term strategic goals. - Foster a DevOps culture across the organization, emphasizing reliability, repeatability, and security throughout the software lifecycle. - Improve developer productivity using AI/ML to improve all aspects of the SDLC, coding, testing, CI/CD workflow generation, compliance, observability, documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated success leading and growing engineering teams in CI/CD, DevOps, or software infrastructure domains.
  • Cloud Computing: Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures and hands-on experience with major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Kubernetes: In-depth knowledge of container orchestration, with proven experience managing large-scale Kubernetes clusters in production.
  • Tekton Pipelines: Familiarity with Tekton or similar CI/CD pipeline tools, including design, configuration, and troubleshooting expertise.
  • CD Events: Experience with event-driven continuous delivery (e.g., CDEvents, CloudEvents) and scaling event-based workflows.
  • Platform Development: Background in creating and managing internal platforms, tools, or frameworks that boost development speed and quality.
  • Automation & Reliability: Proven ability to implement automation that reduces manual effort, enhances security, and improves system reliability.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional communication and influence skills, with a knack for partnering with software, QA, security, and product teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Adept at tackling complex challenges, proposing solutions, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • AI/ML: Strategize about ways to create special workflows for AI developers, hooks in our CI/CD system to enable innovation via AI, and CI/CD domain-specific tools to enhance developer productivity.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience with a strong history in software development and/or infrastructure engineering is also accepted.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks, compliance standards, and CI/CD pipeline best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
