We are seeking an expert Business Development leader to join the Wallet, Payments & Commerce (WPC) Business Development team to help define the next wave of payments innovation for the Apple Pay platform. In this role, you will be responsible for developing partnerships with market-leading payment firms across various payments sectors, including money transfer organizations (MTOs), real-time payments schemes, open banking platforms, among others. To drive product innovation, candidate must have a strong grasp of the global payment ecosystem, understanding key players and market forces, technical systems (e.g., payment network components, tokenization), economics, and evolving regulation. Candidate must balance their depth of payment knowledge with acute business development skills, including building influential relationships, business case development, partnership negotiations, and ushering go-to-market launches. You will guide complex, cross-functional projects, diving into product details with diverse set of internal partners on a regular basis.

Description
Maintain and disseminate cutting edge knowledge of alternative payment sector(s), key players, and market developments
Establish partnership strategy and drive value to the business through external ecosystem engagement
Work with senior level collaborators internally and externally to create and/or advance new product development initiatives in multiple markets
Form business development frameworks and commercial models, define implementation paradigms, and identify priority players to deeply engage
Usher new products and/or features through internal prioritization, partner commitment (contract signing), and go to market launch.\nPromote a cohesive team culture encouraging diverse thought and service to our internal and external partners
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in business development and/or relevant business development experience within payments industry
- Knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including key players and market forces, technical systems (e.g., payment network components, tokenization), economics, and evolving regulation
- Experience structuring partnership deals and negotiating technical terms across multiple partner types in the payment industry
- Experience running strategic partnerships with track record of growing firm business

Preferred Qualifications
- Direct work for a payment network, money transfer organization, open banking platform, or similar, with a multi-national scope
- Experience in product development, formally or informally via close coordination with product or engineering leaders
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to build consensus with leadership, including with engineering colleagues
- Skilled in partner behaviors and experience creating clarity through evolving partner circumstances and needs
- Track record of bringing early ideas from concept to market
- Experience building cases around market opportunities and partnerships including strategy development, market segmentation, competitive analysis, and financial analysis
