Machine Learning Engineering Manager, Photos

The Photos Intelligence team in Camera & Photos develops privacy-respecting, Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to ship Photos features and emotional experiences to hundreds of millions of users worldwide. We are looking for an experienced, technically sound Machine Learning Engineering Manager to join our team and help drive ML and AI for Apple Intelligence features in Photos.
As a Machine Learning Engineering Manager in Photos Intelligence, you will be leading the team that is responsible for developing ML and AI capabilities that deliver amazing Apple Intelligence features for Photos. Candidates should have a proven track record that demonstrates a strong background in ML and AI, engineering leadership, innovation, strong collaboration, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for designing and developing high-quality software. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: * Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of state-of-the-art ML and AI models for Photos features * Foster strong collaboration and partnership with cross functional stakeholders to represent Photos and drive adoption of ML and AI in Photos * Effectively communicate insights and updates to senior leadership with clear and actionable recommendations * Drive a strong ML and AI R&D charter in Photos by continuously pushing the boundaries of innovation forward * Attract, hire, and develop a world class team of Machine Learning engineers
  • Bachelors or Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • Proven track record of building and leading ML and AI teams that have consistently shipped ML / AI models and software that drive user facing features and insights
  • Strong foundations in ML and AI with experience in one or more of the following areas: Deep Neural Networks, Large Language Models in Natural Language Processing, Large Language-Vision Models, Graph Learning, and Information Retrieval
  • Passionate about mentoring and helping engineers grow in their careers
  • Experience with Machine Learning for embedded systems
  • Always curious, a great collaborator, and communicator
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $393,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
