Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. The AppleCare Procedures team is seeking an experienced technical writer to help shape procedural content. In this role, you will partner closely with AppleCare Procedures strategists, designers, and editors on projects ranging from simple to complex. This role is located on our campus in Austin, Texas.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven ability to expertly communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully in all forms of communication
  • Passion for providing a phenomenal user experience
  • Experience writing procedural/instructional documentation
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
  • History of building credibility with partners working autonomously, and being proactive
  • Experience optimizing written content for localization/translation preferred
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) preferred
  • Understanding of readability measurement methods preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager or other content management system preferred
  • Writing samples required

Description

Our Content Writers play a highly collaborative role on an efficient, fast-paced team where change is a constant. You'll rely heavily on your critical-thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Key responsibilities include: Work with strategists and subject-matter experts to gain an in-depth understanding of subject matter and documentation needs. Working from conceptual descriptions or drafts, develop procedural content that is thorough, direct, clear, and concise. Partner with content designers and editors to ensure consistency with Apple style guides and departmental guidelines. Be diligent while never losing focus on the goals of the content and the organization.

Education & Experience

BA/BS degree in related field (or equivalent) plus at least 4 years relevant work experience MA/MS degree in related field preferred
