This team is tasked with constructing the foundational libraries, developer tools, code samples, and providing support to other teams within the broader iCloud organization in their endeavors to deliver high-impact projects. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for developing critical developer tools, libraries, and frameworks that serve as the foundation for various mission-critical and large-scale applications. You will collaborate with multiple teams across Apple to define, implement, and deliver the shared vision. Successful candidates possess strong engineering skills and communication abilities, as well as the capacity to build and maintain relationships across the company. Individuals with a broad perspective and a willingness to learn from others will thrive in this multi-disciplinary environment. You will be expected to excel in making informed technology choices within complex architectures. Your deep understanding of the organization’s business, products, customers, and strategy will enable us to find opportunities that align with this team’s mission.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in developing high-quality software
  • 3+ years of experience in developing tools, libraries, and frameworks
  • Expert in Java programming
  • Experience with operating, developing infrastructure and services in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Experience in distributed computing, micro-services, and server-side technologies
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, along with the tools that support these
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience
  • Experience as a participant or owner of a high-volume open-source software repository
  • Good communication and personal skills, ability to interact and work well with members of other functional groups in a project team, and a strong sense of project ownership
  • Experience writing code generation templates/tools
  • Experience with relational and non-relational data stores and concepts
  • Experience with Netty, Jetty, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with tools such as Gradle, Maven, etc.
  • Dependency Management
  • Serverless/FAAS experience
  • Swift, Objective-C, or C++ experience
  • Thrives in an environment where you have to learn new skills and technologies constantly
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
