Our Product Calibration & Test team is looking for a system design engineer who is responsible for the design and deployment of systems, which carry out calibration and performance validation of the display subsystem on Apple products. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of the lifecycle of the test system - from prototyping to deployment at mass production. You will work closely with the Display group to define calibration and test procedures, and design high precision instrumentation & test systems to be able to perform this efficiently in a factory environment. As a Calibration and Test System Engineer, you will - - Develop state of the art measurement systems. - Introduce cutting edge technology to people around the world to make their life better - Touch every aspect of a system, including HW design, SW development, vendor engagement, algorithm optimization, data mining and factory deployment - Work collaboratively with a creative and diverse team of experienced engineers from all disciplines including Systems Hardware, Product Design, Reliability, Software and Operations

Description

Design, specification, development and deployment of display calibration and test systems. These equipments calibrate and verify performance for end user during new product introduction(NPI). Responsibilities include: - Design, develop, optimize, review and debug software used in interacting with product, instrumentation and motion control systems. - Specify and acquire instruments, components and tools for use in a NPI environment. - Collaborate with cross functional teams to specify and implement test coverage. - Conduct HW/SW/FW validation and FA for testing metrology, instruments and systems by technical benchmarking (ex: Gauge R&R process). - Run simulations or experiments to make data driven decisions and presenting results to senior management. - Deploy calibration and performance verification stations throughout the NPI cycle. - Generate reports that analyze large amounts of NPI camera/display performance data. - Debug devices from the system level down to the component level. - Redefine existing algorithms to optimize for performance or execution time. - Balance decisions between engineering asks and manufacturing efficiency while ensuring product quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in consumer electronic product development & volume manufacturing
  • Experience with hardware testing, calibration and test system bring up, test metrology design and validation.
  • Good programming skills in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C/Lua/Python.
  • Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills. Native fluency in Mandarin-Chinese.
  • Strong leadership and problem solving ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, clear technical communications, self-motivated and very responsible in work you're doing.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, highly cross-functional and fast paced environment.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with optical metrology tools, e.g. colorimeters, spectrometers, digital camera and light sources. Broad range of knowledge in imaging optics, image processing, display and color science.
  • Experience with image processing algorithms development
  • Experience with large quantity data analysis and visualization with Matlab/Python/JMP
  • Knowledge in embedded system, hardware automation or motion control
