As the Senior Manager- Strategic Initiatives Group, you are evaluated on leadership and results, as well as the contributions the SIG team makes in the area of funding availability for digital learning programs, policy changes that promote innovation and flexibility, and growing Apple’s overall strategic relationship with key Government stakeholders. This includes National Government, regional Government, NGOs and other key stakeholders in both the private and public sector. You thrive in ambiguous environments and are able to collaborate with other teams and partners, while possessing a real passion for technology, innovation, and success. You have a deep knowledge of the public sector with the experience to maintain senior relationships up to Ministerial/State Leadership level, a proven ability to understand and help shape public policy, navigate Government departments, and help turn policy in to commercial outcomes that have a quantifiable impact on Government programmes over the long term. You are detail orientated and self-structured in your approach, with the ability to be a phenomenal partner at all levels. You have proven presentation and partner management skills, a passion for education, and thrive in a rapid paced environment and a culture that relies on teamwork.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the public sector, with a strong preference for time spent within major Ministerial departments
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-department Government engagements and proven track record of developing and influencing policy
  • Possess a robust network of contacts, and an intuitive understanding of how to work with a diverse network of stakeholders in support of Apple’s strategic priorities
  • Experience of leading a high performance team to the successful attainment of their goals, including hiring, coaching, developing and leading them to perform their responsibilities in a way consistent with Apple’s strategy and values
  • Strong communications capabilities, both written and verbal
  • A broad understanding of the public sector, the issues and challenges that key Government departments face, and the different stakeholders both within and without National Government
  • Confirmed strengths in relationship management, teaming across functions, deal making & negotiations
  • Strategic agility: demonstrated capability to identify and drive new opportunities
  • Track record of success and upward mobility within organisations
  • Strong self-starter who is able to work independently to develop new areas with ability to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and make things happen


This role will engage with both National and Regional Government, NGOs and other key stakeholders and be responsible for developing Apple’s relationship with each of these groups to position Apple as a trusted partner. This will align with Apple’s long term strategic priorities. You will, where appropriate, identify and engage partner organisations with experience of Government engagement to provide support within each of the markets that you cover, and ensure that those partners meet Apple’s high standards and adhere to their contractual obligations You will provide leadership, vision and coordination to these partners, develop and execute engagement plans with them, and work with internal counterparts from education sales and Government Affairs to ensure these plans are executed at the country level and goals are met according to the mutually agreed upon business plan Navigate Government departments and quickly establish relationships and rapport, building long term strategic relationships founded on credibility, and developing coalitions that advance the education agenda Develop an awareness and understanding of Government education policy, and other policy dependencies Ensure that key Government stakeholders are aware of Apple’s messaging and vision for education, and how this aligns with key areas of education policy, creating a sense of urgency in support of digital learning initiatives Ensure early insight to key Government initiatives, removing barriers that impede the ability of Apple to successfully participate in these initiatives Organise and participate in forums and events (e.g. executive briefings, seminars) for the political leadership and key partners with a focus on education policy and funding streams that impact education Draft written responses to public consultations on education policy and on areas where Apple wishes to take a leadership position Provide information and consultation to Apple management and the field sales force about technology funding opportunities, research, and public policies.

Education & Experience

College Degree: BA/BS Undergraduate Required and MD or MBA Preferred
