The AirPod System Integration team is looking for Electrical Engineers who can own and deliver electronic solutions that elevate audio experiences to the highest standards. This is a unique position allowing ownership of all things "EE" about a product, from architecture to component selection, schematic capture and board layout to validation and manufacturing. The small form factor of these products challenges us to innovate in all aspects of our responsibilities; everything from advanced physical architecture (SiP) to highly power-optimized IC development. Collaboration across teams is a key component of success at Apple. The right candidate will thrive in that type of environment. This person will interact with a wide variety of teams including: acoustics, mechanical engineering, industrial design, EMC, reliability, operations and various SW / QA organizations. Some international travel is required, as our teams go on-site for prototype build support. It is one of the most exciting aspects of the job.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong working experience with PCB/flex development work flow. Successful candidates have the ability to stay organized, execute to a timeline, and deliver high quality designs.
  • Great EE fundamentals and analog design knowledge (circuit design, SPICE sims). This means you have a deep understanding of why our discipline works the way it does; you've developed an intuition and can apply it to new topics because you understand the basics.
  • Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up, debugging and functional verification
  • Practical knowledge with various communication protocols (especially USB, SPI, I2C and UART)
  • Technical expertise in the following areas is especially desirable: DC/DC power design, wireless technologies integration, audio system design and measurement, sensor design & integration
  • Understanding challenges in low power embedded systems is extremely beneficial. Every µA is sacred.
  • Experience in designing high volume products from beginning to end and dealing with contract manufacturers is a huge bonus.

Description

As part of the team, you will be responsible for owning PCB/flex design from schematic capture to guiding PCB layout. This entails generating an accurate netlist, managing /optimizing BOM and directing layout design with PCB designers . Apart from circuit and PCB design, executing on validation plan as well as coming up with manufacturing test requirements will also be our major responsibilities. Experienced team members will get to influence future AirPod architecture based on learnings from successfully executing their programs.

Education & Experience

BS/MS/PHD EE. 2+ years in wearable or consumer electronics industry experiences desirable
