The CoreOS software team is looking for an exceptionally talented software engineering manager to lead kernel development for Apple products. This team is responsible for the development of new kernel features on all products, as well as evolving our software for new ARM & Intel platforms to contribute to the success of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac product lines. CoreOS works with many team across the company to provide a stable, fast, and high-quality foundation on which iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS frameworks and applications can be developed.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience leading a systems software development team
  • Direct experience with kernel or device driver development
  • In-depth understanding of kernel internals
  • Strong understanding of hardware design as it relates to operating systems

Description

Work with a highly skilled engineering team in the design, implementation and support of numerous kernel technologies. The role includes interacting with cross-functional teams across Apple to bring state-of-the art kernel and security enhancements to Apple’s products. Engineers also use various debugging tools and techniques to identify system issues and improve quality. This role involves leading and managing a team of kernel engineers in a fast-paced and demanding development environment whilst having ownership of kernel and other low-level software components. You would be expected to help in creating and promoting a development environment that encourages innovation and sets high standards for quality and productivity, in addition to identifying and mitigating risks in development activities. Education & Experience

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills

Additional Requirements

  • - Experience working on software security is a huge plus
  • - Cross-platform project development experience
  • - Experience working in an embedded environment is very helpful
  • - Experience with macOS device drivers and IOKit a big plus
  • - Experience working with Linux/UNIX kernel and/or device drivers
