Editor, Apple News in Conversation
Apple News provides millions of users with trusted news from leading organizations around the globe, and features high-quality, long-form, deeply-reported journalism. Apple News In Conversation is our weekly interview podcast, where our host, Shumita Basu, talks to journalists, celebrities and thought-leaders about their work and how it relates to the current political and cultural moment. In this role, you will contribute to producing the show every week and be a part of every stage of the production process — including pitching stories, booking guests, researching and writing interview questions, editing tape, writing episode copy, editing episodes, and publishing episodes. You will also be expected to participate in the editorial process for Apple News Today, our daily news podcast, and to assist in that show’s production as needed.
- You will survey and develop deep familiarity with a wide range of long-form journalism and pitch stories and guests that fit the mission of the show.
- You will produce episodes of Apple News In Conversation from start to finish, as well as edit and weigh in on episodes produced by others.
- You will write clear, engaging copy for headlines, push notifications, and other show copy. And you will work with our copy editors to ensure all copy meets in-house style.
- You will assist with Apple News Today production as needed, including booking guests, writing scripts and offering editing support.
- You have at least five years’ experience in audio production.
- You closely follow the U.S. news cycle, with a particular interest in long-form journalism.
- You have strong, nonpartisan editorial judgment, and the ability to make difficult editorial decisions.
- You’re a sharp writer and an efficient editor for the ear with a deep understanding of the Apple News In Conversation voice.
- You can deliver clear, kind and actionable feedback on scripts, plus incorporate feedback seamlessly into your own work.
- You are highly flexible, collaborative and willing to contribute to a wide variety of production tasks.
- You have a keen eye for detail and rigorous fact-checking.
- You lead with compassion and a growth mindset.
- Bachelors’ or Masters’ Degree Preferred
- Podcast audio production experience
