The position will be focused on providing legal support and advice with respect to Apple’s services, including App Store, Apple Music and iCloud, in Greater China, with a focus on advising senior management on regulatory and structural risk, and working towards innovative and creative means of achieving Business goals while mitigating that risk.

Key Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience, working closely with senior management
  • Experience working with Chinese regulators such as MIIT, SAPPRFT, MOFCOM, CAC, SAFE and other technology and/or content-related regulators a strong plus
  • Experience advising US-based companies on Chinese legal, regulatory, and business expansion issues
  • Experience working in-house for a US company a plus
  • Sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to juggle multiple projects under time pressure
  • Fluent Mandarin and English
  • Outstanding communication and analytical skills; ability to distill complex issues and situations into concise summaries
  • Passion for digital media and internet-based distribution models
  • Ability to build client relationships and work collaboratively on cross-functional teams
  • Motivated to work in a truly international environment

Description

You will have significant experience advising high-level clients with regard to commercial and regulatory risks and hurdles, particularly in the high-tech content and software spaces. You will have experience negotiating innovative positions with technology-related regulators in China, on behalf of a foreign company, and will have a detailed understanding of the risks presented to foreign companies by distribution of a variety of types of software and/or media. Hands-on experience working with clients in the online/mobile payments and/or financial industries would be valuable, as well as experience establishing operating structures for foreign-owned companies. The role will require extraordinary judgment of the appropriate balance between risk, regulatory security and business need, and you will need to be able to establish and hold the trust of senior management both in China and internationally.
