Based in Shanghai, the Print Production Manager provides purchasing expertise and strong project management skills to maintain schedules and budgets for all printed materials. Candidate must have expert color analysis skills and extensive experience with pre-press, large and small format litho, and finishing techniques; experience with digital and photographic mediums is required along with supervision of on-site installations. The position is responsible for facilitating effective routing and reviewing of projects through the department.

Key Qualifications

  • 6 years minimum of print production experience in an agency or in-house corporate graphic design department.
  • Must be a strong project manager who is proactive, highly organized, excellent at multi-tasking, comfortable under pressure, and able to work effectively as a team member.
  • The candidate must also be willing to travel, sometimes internationally.
  • Strong written and spoken skills required for English and Mandarin.


Determine project specs, then estimate and/or competitively bid print projects, maintain budget, and communicate any obstacles that would require additional funding; conduct negotiations with suppliers as necessary. Benchmark rates for repeating projects and competitively bid unique projects. Work with Procurement in accordance with corporate guidelines. Support Producers, Procurement, and Finance to ensure that accurate quotes and budget approvals are received and that the correct quarterly purchase orders are raised. Work with teams to assess all print needs. Award print jobs to suppliers and outsource print management responsibilities to production agencies as necessary. Manage suppliers during proofing, color management, and printing phases, including on-site press passes, finishing, quality control, and kit spot-checking. PPM will advise on best methods of kit packing and fulfillment; on-site fulfillment visits will be done on a regular basis, particularly during launch periods. Oversee external production agencies when they perform any of the above services on behalf of Apple. Partner with Producers to ensure that correct production specs are followed by agencies and suppliers. Support budget owners to acknowledge receipt of suppliers’ print-related goods and services so that Finance can pay invoices. Develop, train, and scale in-country Production Agencies for quality control expectations and print requirements. Explore, test, and recommend new suppliers, print methods, fulfillment houses, and production techniques. Liase directly with Corporate Marcom team members to ensure the greatest consistency and highest quality possible for all printed materials produced.

Education & Experience

Bachelor or above degree in design, advertising, etc.
