The Greater China Apple Pay team is seeking an experienced business development professional to lead our business development and relationship management efforts with our key ecosystem partners - the payment networks, issuers, and other key partners. This professional will also craft and execute our broader payments and financial services strategy building on the foundation we have laid over the future years Internally, you will work closely with Greater China Apple Pay business leadership and business development professionals in China, EMEIA and Cupertino. Externally, you will be responsible for all relationships with payment networks, banks, credit card issuers. You will also be responsible for crafting relationships with new and emerging ecosystem partners

Key Qualifications

  • You should have a background in strategy and planning with a big picture vision of how technology will shape the future of the financial services sector in Greater China and a track record of having shaped that evolution so far
  • You should have a distinctive track record of success in business development, ideally having established relationships and negotiated complex contracts with new and existing partners that have led to industry-shaping partnerships
  • You should have experience influencing existing external partners to drive the sustained long term success of business partnerships
  • You should have experience renegotiating contracts with existing partners, incorporating key learnings and restructuring partnerships to achieve even greater successes
  • You should have detailed knowledge of financial services, payments and ideally Apple Pay
  • Other qualities that will help you succeed on the Apple Pay Greater China team:
  • Superior and persuasive written and verbal communication skills (Chinese and English)
  • A strong fact-based orientation, with a track record of using data and analysis to persuade others to support your ideas
  • Ability to inspire your team and your partners with your vision for the future
  • Highly collaborative and inclusive working style; willing to work closely and effectively with internal and external teams
  • High level of motivation and clearly demonstrated examples of tenacity and perseverance, especially in building external partner agreement with large and sometimes challenging partners across the spectrum from traditional Chinese companies through digital tech innovators and startups, ideally over long time horizons
  • Experience working through internal approval processes and building internal support in cross-functional settings
  • Track record in technology of inspiring engineers locally and in other geographies to work on great new customer experiences
  • Genuine passion for world-class products and customer experience and a desire to drive adoption of new technologies to more users, especially in the quest to reinvent financial services using new technology
  • Strong judgment, presence and experience engaging with cross-functional teams in Chinese companies

Description

You will be responsible for Business Development across all of Apple Pay’s payments partners in Greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan): You will help to develop the overall strategy for Apple Pay in Greater China, making input into the direction of the business at all levels starting with the annual roadmap planning process You will work with new partners from initial outreach, negotiation of business terms, detailed contract negotiation, product launch and ongoing partner relationship management and contract renegotiation for a range of partners in existing and new categories You will work with existing partners to develop marketing, promotional and other plans to drive Apple Pay active users and increase transactions per active user

Education & Experience

B.A./B.S. required, MBA preferred
