The In-Region Noise & Vibration Engineer is directly responsible for design and implementation of test methodologies and troubleshooting design issues that result unwanted acoustic noise. Communication with design teams in factory settings as well as design teams in other countries will be critical. The candidate will oversee critical testing and design implementation for industry-leading consumer electronic devices.

Key Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a solid fundamental knowledge of acoustic principles and be able to communicate complex acoustic principles in English. Other qualifications include:
  • 5+ years directly relevant experience
  • Fluent in English & Mandarin and technical concepts in English & Mandarin
  • Strong theoretical and experimental background in acoustics
  • Solid testing and data analysis skills
  • Experience with acoustic testing equipment (chambers, microphones, etc)
  • Comfortable with various computer scripting languages and ability to learn new scripting skills
  • Ability to effectively contribute in fast-paced, constantly changing, multitasking environment
  • Flexibility in problem solving approaches

Description

As part of Apple’s Noise & Vibration group, the Noise & Vibration Engineer will be based in the Shanghai region and will have a wide range of responsibilities including: - Implementing and writing test plans and standard operating procedures for acoustic testing in factory environments - Analyzing data using noise level and sound quality metrics - Troubleshooting test and design implementations - Create and implement innovative noise and test solutions with cross-functional teams - Frequent travel among sites in the Shanghai and Shenzhen regions along with infrequent travel to US

Education & Experience

BS/MS/PhD or equivalent, preferably specializing in acoustics and vibration
