The Apple Human Interface Design team conceptualizes, designs and creates the user experience for all Apple products and services. Apple Human Interface Design is seeking an outstanding Pipeline Engineer to work in a multifaceted department, building and supporting tools and workflows our designers rely on to create Apple’s world-renowned products.

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in a pipeline tools development role in a creative environment like visual effects, games, architecture, or post production.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and systems and deliver effective tools and workflows to end users.
  • Python programming of standalone tools as well as embedded in applications like Houdini, Maya, and Nuke.
  • Developing apps for macOS and/or iOS using Apple frameworks and technologies.
  • Using open source software build and package management systems like Homebrew, Conda, and Rez as well as Xcode.
  • Deploying and maintaining production tracking systems like ShotGrid or Ftrack and using their APIs to interface with custom tools.
  • Configuring and managing cloud rendering solutions like Deadline on AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Automation with systems like Ansible, JAMF, and Jenkins.
  • Comfortable working in a mixed platform environment (Linux/macOS/Windows).

Description

You’ll be expected to take responsibility for day-to-day hands-on work as well as long term, high level technical strategy for your projects. You’ll have the freedom to work from the infrastructure to the interface and the responsibility to support what you build. You’ll participate in planning for our overall team roadmap and be expected to drive your projects from concept to completion. You’ll be involved in projects supporting concept design, prototyping, delivery to engineering, review, asset management, workflow automation, and distributed rendering/ compute. You’ll have connections with experienced systems, network, security, and desktop engineers managing infrastructure for our department and others at Apple but we’ll depend on your experience and initiative to deliver innovative solutions that fit the studio’s unique requirements.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in a complex enterprise production environment.
