At Apple, great ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring curiosity, passion, and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. As part of the Camera Silicon Architecture team, you'll help design innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You'll collaborate with teams across Apple to explore, define and drive the development of next-generation camera silicon image sensor architectures. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who can drive and lead technical engagements between Apple and silicon suppliers working on groundbreaking technologies. We are looking for an experienced mixed signal designer with analog design experience to work with multi-functional teams and external vendors to define, develop and productize the next generation of CMOS image sensor solutions. This position focuses specifically on all major blocks of an image sensor ASIC including ADCs, pixel array control, bias and reference circuits, digital control, and overall sensor integration into a camera system.

Description

This is a highly multi-functional technology and product development role, and you will work closely with various teams, such as pixel, sensor, module, substrate, FW, SW and ISP. In this role, you will: • Work cross-functionally to evaluate problem space to determine key system and camera requirements. • Evaluate solution space including system constraint discovery to identify creative architectural implementation approaches. • Explore, architect and develop analog and/or digital architectures for novel camera sensors & systems. • Detailing and communicating your results to multi-functional engineering teams. • Working with the internal customer teams to evaluate the contribution of the sensor to system performance. • Simultaneously, collaborating with global sensor suppliers to determine their capabilities, to feasibility study, develop and evaluate new sensors. • Develop & drive chip level architecture specifications through the implementation phase. • Participate in system integration tasks with multi-disciplinary teams. Working with collaborators to assure that sufficient and correct verification/testing is implemented at all stages to guarantee performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in EE or similar fields
  • Experience in analog and/or digital design with chip or system level architecture development
  • Background in novel or high-performance image sensing devices/systems

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD degree in EE or other similar fields
  • 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of general industry trends and technical challenges of high performance image sensor manufacturing technology, image sensor performance metrics, image sensor usage and integration into camera systems
  • Experience with high performance and low power image sensor architecture design
  • Experience with modeling and simulating device/system level conceptual designs to explore device/IP/system level performance parameters
  • Ability to methodically derive design and verification requirements from design specifications and drive design activities toward compliance to requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, solid collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Experience with industry standard ASIC design tools and modern design verification techniques in mixed signal environments
