Apple Music’s editorial team puts together the best playlists and recommendations in every genre in the industry. It’s about the music you love, but you just haven’t heard yet. Technology provides access, but you have to feel music to be able to recommend it. To strengthen our Apple Music editorial team, we are looking for an experienced person who is knowledgeable and passionate about artists and music from across J-Pop, K-Pop, Anime to International Frontlines & Catalogue with a strong network of contacts across the artist, manager, label, and tastemaker communities. This is an editorial role, reporting to the Head of Music for Japan. There are a number of cross functional teams involved and it will be your responsibility to make sure everything is well organized, clearly communicated and production deadlines are always met.


- Building an editorial strategy and deciding editorial priorities, taking into account product release info, demographic targeting, partner promotions and sponsorship opportunities etc. - Curate local storefronts and playlists to make sure our customers are presented with the hottest tracks and best playlists available. - Making sure the editorial voice is clear and well balanced between innovative promotions and the discovery of great new music. - Work with various international teams to plan the scheduling of music releases and execute on promotions. - Identify, understand and communicate the Japan market trends, music industry developments, needs and opportunities for Apple Music to our regional and international teams. - Supporting an overall Apple Music editorial strategy that seeks to synchronise marketing and editorial activities across media types (Apps, Music, Arcade, TV+, Video, Podcasts, Books, etc.) in a co-ordinated fashion. - Researching user activity using internal reporting tools to refine editorial selection on a weekly basis. - Working closely with the Marketing team to maximise the reach of promotion opportunities. - Liaising with the Production team on a weekly basis to ensure that design, audio and copy requirements are delivered in a timely fashion and are always consistent with our brand values.

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years experience and knowledge in professional music curation.
  • Experience in subscription based businesses.
  • Outstanding understanding of the music industry dynamics, including independent and major labels as well as competitor digital music services.
  • Strong project management skills and a track record in conceiving and implementing innovative ideas.
  • Culturally savvy with a good sense of judgment on the appropriateness of content.
  • Self-motivated, driven.

BS/BA or equivalent work experience
