Apple is looking for Set Up / Operator candidates for the Industrial Design group's Model Shop. The Operator will produce machined parts, operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, have an understanding of technical drawings, maintain and improve quality and safety standards, keep and create records, and maintain equipment and supplies. Candidates should have a strong interest in and aptitude for the CNC process as well as a solid understanding of how a product is made.
Description
Set up and quality check tools in support of machining parts
Understanding of process sheets from setup sheets or any other paperwork (i.e. drawings, specifications, etc.)
Cut and prep materials
Meet time and schedule standards for assigned work
Perform non-CNC tasks when necessary: non-CNC equipment operation, hand-work, operations, inspections, saw-cut operations, etc.
Able to do offset, compensations, and conditional switches using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
Maintain material inventory by checking items in and out and notifying when inventory runs low
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Ability to use various inspection pin and block gages, caliper, micrometers etc.
Perform daily maintenance and cleaning on equipment
Monitor parts and ensure machines are operating properly
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machines
- HEIDENHAIN CNC control programming skills is a plus
- Able to work in team environment
- Initiative to complete tasks independently, from start to finish
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A keen eye for detail
- Organizational and time management skills
- Familiar with machine tools for drilling, milling and grinding
- Self starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize workday/projects independently
- Good overall understanding of CNC programs including formatting and editing
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Basic PC and Mac knowledge
